Why Take Classes?
Most people underestimate how much there is to learn. Starting with proper technique is the best way to build foundation skills. Once foundation skills are solid, other skills become easier and quicker to learn.

We love private classes and will happily accommodate your schedule & location. If you’re on the water, we’ll come to you. If not, we’ll find the best location for your group. Intro to Standup paddling
$40 includes equipment
This is the class to start with if you’ve never had any professional instruction. We’ll cover some necessary skills & strokes to have you paddling more efficiently in a short amount of time. Equipment is provided. Change of clothing recommended. Footwear required. Ages 12+. To Signup, contact Great Pond Marina at (207) 495-2213.
This 4-week series will completely change the way you paddle. If you’ve done some standup paddling and are ready to learn more, spreading the skills out is the best way to do that. We will make you an efficient flat water standup paddler as we thoroughly progress through Level One skills, then integrate some important Level Two skills. Some prior standup paddling experience required. Dress to get wet. Use your board or rent one of ours. Reservations required. When space is available, the drop in rate is $30/session.
Friday Night Social paddle

On Friday nights we get together to paddle. FREE with your own board, $25 if you need to rent one. This is not a class, it’s a fun group paddle, but we’re here to give tips if you need them. Paddling experience required. If you’re new to standup paddling, take a class first. Bring dry clothing. Make a reservation if you need equipment.
If you really want to take your SUP skills to the next level, take this class. SUP Foundation Skills is a 1/2 day class focused on fundamental standup paddling skills that will help you paddle further and faster. Once foundation skills are dialed in, learning new skills is a breeze. This is a must take course if you’re venturing far or paddling in wind.
Level ONe & Two Instructor Certification
Level One: $250, 2 days
Level Two: $350, 3 days

The American Canoe Association is the national standard for paddlesports instruction in the US. This is the course to take if you want to get certified to teach standup paddling. We train you in personal paddling skills, leadership, group mgmt, teaching skills and so much more. Must be physically fit and have standup paddling experience. These courses are generally offered in the spring and fall.
